Chapter Three:
Hail to the Queen


      The moment I laid eyes on the dreadful creature, my body became paralyzed with intense fear. The room flashed on and off for a moment with light and darkness, to reveal a dark circular room with webs all across the floors and walls. There were pillars all around me, covered in webs. Suddenly, just as I feared, the light fell away, and I was staring into the disgusting, bright yellow and green eyeball of the ferocious beast. The room suddenly became very cold as the almighty queen moved her hideous and terrifying body towards me at an impossible speed.

  "MOVE!" Navi's screech in my ear caused me to panic, and I rolled quickly out of the way as the Queen's claws crashed into a pillar breaking the side of it. The spider shook furiously to free itself, and I ran. I ran as fast as I could around the room, looking for some kind of exit. I banged on the door as hard as I could, but it was no use. I was locked in with this beast.

      I turned slowly to see its giant eyeball narrowed at me. Navi flew in front of my face, which lit up the path in front of me, enough to see the enormous body of the queen. I gulped and wiped the sweat dripping down my forehead. With a trembling hand, I reached behind my back for my sword, grabbed the hilt, and slowly pulled it out, and with my right hand I held my shield in front of my face. I finally faced this creature fully, and it charged at me, with it's sharp fangs pointed in my direction. I quickly rolled out of the way.

   I threw my sword down on its leg, but it did nothing but clang uselessly against the hard outer skeleton of the spider. Navi fluttered around the beast, and shouted back to me.
"The whole thing is covered in some type of outer skeleton that acts as armor! There's no way that the Kokiri sword could penetrate it!"

I gasped as the great spider advanced on me, trapping me in a corner. I took another step away from it, but I noticed my foot was stuck on something. I glanced down, and noticed a thick, sticky web wrapped around my ankle. I was not going anywhere now. The spider closed in on me, as I franticly tried cutting through the webs with my sword, but they wouldn't budge. The spider clamped its legs on the walls around me, and it's venom dripping fangs slowly heading for my neck. I clanged my sword uselessly against the hard armor. The fangs were inches away now, and I closed my eyes, and pressed up against the wall, waiting for the impact. Suddenly a small stinging pain erupted at my side.
"Ow!" I hissed. I opened one eye to find it was not yet the spider fang. I reached into my side pocket quickly, to find five, small deku nuts. My eyes widened, and I understood now. The Deku from before!
You have to stun the Queen in the only place you can.
Just before the fang reached me, I threw a deku nut at the only place I could.
Her large, disgusting eyeball.

The creature screeched and writhed on the ground, completely stunned. I finally squirmed enough to get out of the web, and lunged at the creature, sword drawn. I lashed the sword like an x around its eyeball. Green blood oozed down my sword, and caused my stomach to lurch. The creature squealed, and leaped against the wall, digging it's claws into the wall. It climbed all the way up onto the ceiling, and disappeared into the dark.
"Navi!" I yelled hoarsely, "Follow it! Don't let it get out of my sight!" She nodded, and immediately flew up on the ceiling, and almost had a heart attack when she lit up right in front of its bloody and damaged eyeball. She shrieked and flew around it, shining light on the wretched creature.

"You aren't escaping," I whispered silently to myself. I gripped my slingshot, and loaded it with my last deku nuts, aiming it at the eyeball. I pulled back and let them fly.
The creature screeched once again, and fell to the ground. I ran up to it, and drove my sword down into its eyeball in the middle of the x. It froze, and then ceased moving. I took slow steps away from it, swaying, and struggling to stay on my feet. I knee down, breathing hard. Suddenly, the spider seemed to melt down, and shrink in a puff a black swirling smoke, leaving my sword on the ground, with not a stain of blood on it. I stared at the ground, to find that in the spot of the enormous spider, was a tiny, harmless spider. I rasied an eyebrow as it scurried into the bushes out of sight.

What the heck was that all about?!

Navi flew down in front of my face, hugging my nose. "Link! Are you okay! That was amazing! And very brave!"
Suddenly, as if by magic, as small glowing light blue ring appeared on the floor.
"What is that?" The blue light suddenly lit up the entire room.
Navi flew towards it. "Come on Link! Let's go!"
"Wait Navi!" I ran after her, and stepped into the blue ring. Right as my foot was inside the ring, a giant blue crystal formed around me and began to hover into the air. I placed my palms on the crystal with my eyes wide.
I stared at Navi with my widened eyes.
"This is not exactly what I would call a normal day…" She laughs a little as everything around us turns white.
