Chapter 33:
The moment Ganondorf lunged at us, there was a bright flash of light, and a weird sensation came over me. It only lasted a second, and we were thrown to the ground.
I glanced up. We were in a large, completely white room. It wasn't cold, or warm. Everything was strangely bright.
"Link?" I said. My voiced echoed throughout the room. There was nothing in here. It Was strangely… calm. I felt… serenity.
"Right here." He replied. I turned to him and grabbed his arm to help him up.
"What happened? Where's Ganondorf?" I question. The room was completely empty. "Were we teleported somewhere?" He asks, examining the room.
"Yes." Says a calm, soothing voice.
Both of us turn quickly. A woman is standing in the center of the room.
Long black hair cascades down her back. She is clothed in simple white robes, and she has no shoes. Her bright blue eyes are filled with great sorrow. Link stares at the woman in shock. She steps forward.
"You were transported here for your own benefit."
Link blinks twice but then says, "…Mom?" My eyes widen. This is Link's… Mother?
Her sorrowful look slowly turns into a heartwarming smile.
He steps forward, "Is… Is it really you?"
"Yes Link, it is me."
"Why are you here? What happened? Are we… dead?"
She shakes her head slowly, "No my son, you are not dead."
Another deep voice echoes throughout the room. "We teleported you here."
A large, muscular man is now standing next to Mara, with a hand around her waist. He wears white plates of armor, and has dark green eyes and shaggy blond hair.
Link's eyes widen, "Dad?" He simply nods. Link exchanges glances with both of them, "Why did you?"
"Because you both are in danger." Replies another voice that I recognize.
My mother is now standing beside me, staring at me intensely. She is wearing the same white robes that Mara is. All of them are surrounded by a strange glow.
"Mom!" I gasp.
Link runs his fingers through his hair, "Somebody had better explain what's going on here!"
Mara smiles, "Link, it's so good to finally speak with you again. I missed you so much son…" Her eyes twinkle for a moment, and then her face hardens again, "You were teleported here by the three of us. We combined our powers and the power of this realm to make sure that we could talk to you."
"This realm?" I ask.
"You are in the Realm of the Spirits. All of us live here now."
"Why are you here? All of you?"
My mother placed a hand on my shoulder, "Zelda and Link, we admire your bravery, but you don't realize who you are dealing with."
My face hardens, but I continue to listen. Mara steps in, "Now that Ganondorf has the Triforce, he is the most powerful being in the universe. There is no way to defeat him now." She hangs her head, "I'm sorry you two. I know that you did the best you could, but he just cannot be stopped."
Everyone is silent.
"So that's it?" Link says. Everyone stares at him, "We're just going to give up? Just like that, After EVERYTHING that we've been through? No, I'm not just going to sit by and watch him destroy everything!"
Garrett shakes his head, "You cannot go charging into a battle that you know you can't win, son. I made that mistake years ago, and look at me now."
Link turns to Mara, "Isn't there another way?" He pleads.
She closes her eyes. "…Yes."
My eyes widen, "What is it?!"
"The only thing you could possibly do is… seal him away. Forever."
"That was the plan originally," I point out, "But how are we going to seal him away now?"
My mother stands beside Mara, "You would have to fight him, to weaken him. Once he is weakened, we will assist you. We will use all of the power that we have to force him into the altar of the Triforce. Then, it will be up to you two. The altar will tell you what you need to do in order to seal him away entirely. After that, we can do no more for you."
"So basically," Link begins, "We need to fight him, you will force him into the altar, and then the altar will say what to do?"
Garrett nods, "Exactly. But you children must know this. With the power of the Triforce, Ganondorf has grown extremely strong. You have to understand that there is a very low chance of you two coming out alive."
Link nods, "We know." He attempts to wipe the dirt off his face, "But we have to try."
Mara smiles, "Link… I'm so proud of you. You've grown into a very brave young man. No matter what happens out there, we'll be with you."
"To the very end?" He asks.
She nods, "To the very end."
My mom puts a hand on my shoulder, "We ALL will be with you."
Suddenly her hand started to vanish, "May the Goddesses watch over you two."
Then everything disappeared in a flash of light.

My eyes fluttered open to see Ganondorf lunging at us, his energized sword out.
"Move!" Link yells. He grabs my arm and pulls me to the side.
Ganondorf's sword crashes into the spot where I was, sending chunks of the floor flying. I turn towards Link, panting heavily, "Thanks." I say.
"No problem! Duck!"
I dodge his large black sword again. Ganondorf merely laughs, "YOU TWO ARE FOOLS TO TRY AND MATCH MY POWER!" He raises his sword up, and a dark sphere of black magic envelopes from it. It flies towards us, and we both jump to the side to avoid it. I quickly take cover behind the rubble of a statue and firmly grip my golden bow. I close my eyes.

Please oh, Please, give me enough power to do this. I quickly turn, and knock an arrow. It immediately erupts in waves of blinding light. I fire it, and it strikes him in the chest.
He roars in pain and starts thrashing his sword around. He pulls the light arrow out, and growls in frustration. He generates more magic, and throws It towards me. I cry out as I fly back into a pillar, and hit the ground hard. Stars explode in front of my eyes as my head strikes the ground. I cough and boost myself up, grabbing my bow. I glance up to see Link leap at Ganondorf while his back is turned, and slash him across the back, denting his armor.
He turns with rage boiling in his eyes and back hands Link across the room. Ganondorf jumps over to him, picking him up by the throat. He struggles and kicks, but Ganondorf slams him into the wall. He draws his long black sword and yells, "I've had enough of you, boy!"
I quickly knock another arrow, and fire it at Ganondorf. It strikes him in the shoulder. He howls in pain, and drops Link. I quickly run to his side, and help him up.
"Link! These arrows do more damage than a regular arrow! If you can distract him, I'll fire these at him when he's not looking!"
He nods slowly, and then charges forward towards Ganondorf.  I move around him quietly. The evil King slashes at Link, but he dodges quickly, attempts to stab him. Ganondorf grabs him by the wrist and throws him down. He kicks Link aside, and Link cries out, "Zelda!"
On cue, I fire the arrow at Ganondorf. He turns just in time to grab the arrow, in midair. My eyes go wide as he snaps it in half and throws it to the ground.
"YOUR PUNY ARROWS WON'T WORK AGAINST ME, PRINCESS!" He glances toward the sky, and roars,
"TRIFORCE! GIVE ME MORE POWER!" Suddenly, Dark winds swirl around him, and we watch in horror as he grows larger. To our surprise his wounds instantly close up.
Link's eyes widen as his sword grows longer and his armor grows thicker and larger. Ganondorf laughs greedily and proclaims, "DON'T YOU SEE?! YOU ARE NOTHING COMPARED TO ME. THE WORLD IS MINE TO DOMINATE! I AM THE SUPERIOR BEING!"
He raises his sword in the air, and wind begins to swirl around us.
I grip Link's shoulder tightly so that I don't go flying away. Dirt and ash fly everywhere, and it's suddenly hard to breathe.

We can't do it.
He's too strong. I turn to Link and stare into his hopeless, deep blue eyes.
"Link…" I whisper, "What do we do?"
He shakes his head as Ganondorf laughs, and a ring of fire surrounds the three of us.

The heat is unbearable. The unstoppable evil King smiles evilly, revealing his teeth to be jagged and sharp, "BOW BEFORE YOUR KING, NO… YOUR EMPEROR! GIVE YOUR SELVES UP!" My eyes narrow.
"We will NEVER bow to you!" I yell as I knock another arrow.
Ganondorf snorts and his hand reaches out, "IF YOU WILL NOT BOW BEFORE ME, THEN YOU WILL COWER AGAINST MY POWER!!!"
Suddenly he clenches his fist.
I scream as I am pulled towards him through the air, and his hand goes around my throat.

His grip is iron, and no matter how much I struggle, I'm not going anywhere. It suddenly becomes hard to breathe. I shut my eyes tightly as I become lightheaded.
"Let her GO!" Link yells.
Ganondorf turns towards him and raises his eyebrow in amusement. Link is pointing a light arrow at Ganondorf.
"Let her go." He repeats.
The King of Evil laughs, "OR WHAT LITTLE BOY?! YOU'LL SHOOT ME?!"
My vision becomes blurry.
Link nods. "Yes. Yes I will. The arrow's tip suddenly bursts into light. Ganondorf's eyes widen when the bright light begins flashing.
"Let her go."
He snorts, "FINE. I WILL."
He raises me high into the air and tosses me away.
I gasp for air as soon as his hand leaves my throat, but cry out when I hit the ground hard.
Link let's the arrow fly, but Ganondorf dodges the arrow easily and quickly moves towards him.
I boost myself up and run over screaming, "Link run!"
Ganondorf, lunges forward, wanting to impale Link against the wall with his sword. Link however, barely dodges this by slipping sideways. The sword nastily grazes his shoulder.
Link cries out loudly and moves out of the way as Ganondorf's sword goes through the wall.
He merely rips the thing out, causing stone to fly everywhere. The pillar that was there collapses, and rock bits scatter all over the floor. Link turns towards me, shoving the bow into my hands.
"Zelda, whenever I give the signal, shoot. Just shoot the light arrow, okay?!"
"Okay… what's the plan?" He glances at the furious and huge Ganondorf coming stomping towards us.
"It is a very stupid plan. But it's all we've got."
When I nod, Link immediately walks forward. Towards Ganondorf. My heart races he approaches him.
My eyes widen. "Link! What are you doing?!"
He stops when he is nearly three feet in front of him. Ganondorf smirks.
"HAVE YOU COME TO CHALLENGE ME AGAIN, PUNY HUMAN?!"
Link shakes his head. "No. Do you know why?"
The King raises an eyebrow.
"Let me spell it out for you. I already know I can defeat you. It's a piece of cake. I can do it with both hands tied behind my back and my eyes closed." He leans forward with a grin, "You're the so called 'King of Evil', and 'King of Power'. Heck, you're nothing but a big weakling."
Ganondorf's eyes widen and he backhands Link to the ground. Link groans in pain, and Ganondorf hauls him into the air by his tunic.
"Link! What are you doing?!"
Link grins painfully at Ganondorf, "You big softy. Is that all you got?"
The Evil King screams furiously and shoves Link into the wall. Link gasps as he is forced against the wall. Next to the altar.
…Wait…
The altar! That's it!
I grin to myself. Link you are a genius.
But my smile fades as Ganondorf kicks him furiously in the ribcage. Link cries  out and falls to the ground.
The King bends down towards him with his sword at his neck.
"ANYTHING ELSE YOU HAVE TO SAY BEFORE YOU DIE, SMARTMOUTH?!"
Link opens his sapphire eyes, and grins.
"Now Zelda!"
It takes Ganondorf a moment to realize he had just been deceived. The light arrow leaves my fingers faster than he can turn around, and strikes him in the back.

He roars loudly in pain. He whirls around, sword in hand, and attempts to charge. However the light from the arrow that pierced him caused him to freeze. Instantly, he disintegrated, and he was nothing but clouds of shadow. The clouds were forced over to the altar, where they hovered there.
Link and I exchanged glances for a moment, but then I shrieked with joy.
We… actually did it!
We won!
"Link!" I yelled. I practically threw myself down towards him and hugged him fiercely.
"Ow… Ow… Ow!" He muttered.
I gasped and let go, "Sorry!" He tries to stand, but he gasps painfully.
I grab his shoulders and force him to look at me.
"You are the stupidest, but smartest, person I know. You shouldn't' have done that! You could have been killed!"
He smiled and placed a hand on my cheek, "But if I didn't, everyone would die. That's a risk I just have to take."
Suddenly, we both turn to look at the black cloud hovering over the altar.
"It's not over. Not yet." Link said quietly.
"Right." I say as I head over to the altar.
"Um… Zelda?"
"Mmmhmmm?"
"I can't get up."
My eyes widen and I smack my forehead, "Oh yeah."
I quickly run towards him, grab his shoulders, and slowly help him up.
"I… I think… a couple ribs are broken..." He managed.
"That's okay. We'll get you fixed up once we get out of here."
We both face the altar.
And we read the inscription:

The Legend of the Triforce states that once Long ago the Goddesses Din, Nayru, and Farore created this land, and the Triforce, the Perfect balance. If one with a pure heart were to touch it, the land would live forever in peace and prosperity. If a corrupted heart were to touch it, the land would be consumed of evil. Also, the Triforce would split into three pieces, power, wisdom, and courage. The one that the evil one believes in most will stay with them. The two others will go to those worthy of that piece.

But hope will yet remain. The Triforce could still be saved.
If one of the Triforce carriers would sacrifice their soul to the Triforce, another piece would be in balance, and the Triforce would leave the world again. Then the evil one will be banished for eternity.
This is what the prophecy says.

Link and I stared and stared at it for a long time. I slowly turned my head towards him, trying to understand this.
"So…" I began with tears welling up in my eyes.

He met my gaze, finally, and said, "One of us… has to die."
No.
Not after everything we've been through together. It can't end like this.
There has to be SOME other way!
We were both quiet for a minute, but then Link spoke, "It's going to be me."
I whirled around and faced him, "No! Link, no."
He nodded. "Yes, Zelda. It has to be me."
I cross my arms over my chest stubbornly, "No it doesn't. Why would you think that?!"
He turns around slowly. "Zelda, this entire time, since I first met you in Kakariko, you've been the only thing I cared about." He closes his eyes and turns his head, "But… you're a Princess. I'm a commoner. You deserve a Prince in shining armor. I'm… I'm… nothing but a nobody farm boy." He paused. "I can't believe… I actually thought… it could be."
A tear rolled down my cheek. It's not going to end like this.
"You know Link, being a Princess and all, I can have anything I want. You see, any girl would be happy with piles and piles of gold rupees, handsome Princes', and servants who clean your room. The thing is, I was never happy. I never needed anything they gave me. However, I've always felt that there was something missing. SOMEONE missing."
He glances up, like he's unable to process what he's hearing.
"You, Link. I wanted someone that understood me. Someone who was there for me and who I could talk to. I wanted someone brave and charming and handsome. And you've given me everything I could possibly want Link." I step back towards the altar, and a couple more tears run down my face. I concentrated hard and gather all of my strength and power left. I knew what I had to do.
"Nayru's Love." I whisper.
A familiar blue, crystal diamond cage appears around me, and Link's eyes widen.
"No! Zelda! No! There's got to be another way!"
He runs up and bangs as hard as he can, but it's no use. He's not going to break it.
"Please understand why I'm doing this Link. I'm doing it because… I love you. You're not a nobody farmer boy Link. You're a hero."
"Don't do this!" He pleads.
"I have to." I say softly. "If I don't Ganondorf will just keep coming back." I close my eyes, "If a sacrifice is required to seal him away, then I must do this. This kingdom is my responsibility, and it's time I pay the price for my mistakes. You've done so much for me and paid the price so many times for ME!" I say, remembering how he was tortured in Hyrule Castle. "This is my purpose."
I close my eyes and offer myself to the Triforce. Instantly, I feel myself go limp.
Then, my eyes fall shut, and the world goes black.

****
(Link)

"Zelda!" I yell as I go forward to catch her. Her long blonde hair barely touches the floor as I hold her up.
"Zelda! Please answer me!"
Nothing. She's pale and cold.
Please. No.
NO!
"You can't be gone! Open your eyes! Please!"
Silence.
I grab her cold hand and just sit there, letting reality soak in.
She's dead.
And it's all my fault.
I close my eyes tightly, allowing the tears to flood out.
"No! No! Please wake up Zelda! Please!"
Suddenly, the dark cloud above me begins to scream as a light portal is opened, and it is forced inside. I barely notice as the evil King is sealed away, however.

The War is over.
I cover my tear stained face with my hands. It doesn't matter anymore.

Without her… nothing matters.
I grab her cold, pale hand and sit there, unable to believe it.
It should have been me!
"Why?" I whisper.
A bright light suddenly interrupts my thoughts however.
Floating in front of me is the sacred Triangle.  The Triforce.
I gape and stare in amazement. The Golden light that surrounds it is blinding. I cover my face to shield the light.

"Greetings Hero Link. I am the Spirit of the Triforce. You have done well to free me from the Evil one. All will return to as it was. But…"
I stare at it, eager to hear what it has to say.
"Your brave efforts to save this kingdom caught my attention, so I will grant you one wish."
I pause.
"A wish?"
"Yes Link. What do you desire the most? Fame? Fortune? Power? Anything that you want, I will give it to you."
Anything in the world? Heck, I could even wish FOR the world!
I narrow my brows. I don't want the world. I don't want power. I know what I want.
I slowly stand up, "I wish that Zelda was alive again."
"Oh? The Princess? I see…Very well. She was very brave to sacrifice her soul, so I will pour life into her."
I sigh in relief.
There was a bright flashing light, and the Triforce was gone.

But standing where it used to be, is the Prwincess of Hyrule. She is no longer dirty, bloody, and in a ripped dress. She is wearing a long and beautiful white dress, with her long and wavy golden hair practically glowing. She looks up at me, her wide sapphire eyes full of surprise.
"Zelda?" I ask.
She smiles as a few tears run down her cheek. Then she grabs the collar of my tunic, and pulls me into a kiss. Everything in the world disappears for a moment.
After we brake away, she smiles up at me, "Out of everything you could have ever had, you wished to get me back?"
"Of course. What else could I possibly want?" I say with a heartwarming smile.
She laughs and wraps her arms around me, "You're just amazing, you know that?"
He gives a crooked smile. "I try."
She laughs.
It's the best thing I've heard all day.
I DO NOT OWN THE LEGEND OF ZELDA! ONLY THE CHARACTERS THAT I CREATED!

Guys, we are almost done! Just one last chapter, and then the epilouge!

I have to say, I'm pretty proud of myself for continuing this story. But I couldn't have done it without any of you!
Enjoy!!!
